48.5 years old - SNAP 😊 what beautiful dogs. What you said about creating a safe space for your students reminded me of Brenda Ueland, who already came up in conversation once today. Do you know of her? Thanks for your post and yes I think many of us feel the 'should update' thing - I try to resist it and trust/wait but don't always manage, and sometimes once I get started like you the writing flows and I feel much better...
All that sounds very familiar. And it would have been totally okay if you would have just posted photos. But see, even from that little post you learned how to deal with it and worked out just fine!
You’re so right Susanne, thank you for reading and commenting on this post. Have you had a good week? What do you love writing about? I’m intrigued by how others get to the page because so many people have so many interesting methods 💛
Your photos of your very special retreat are wonderful. 🌻 Looks like you all had so much fun. I know exactly what you mean about self imposed pressure. I feel the same now I have started a Substack. So my last post was mainly photos too. Although as a reader I really treasure the photo share type post as it really does capture so much more than words ever could. Thanks for sharing -- of course I LOVE the doggie photos too. 🐾
reply its good to know I’m making a little bit of sense through my writing. You’d love the memoir writing retreats. It’s so much more that just writing masterclasses. I always come away feeling loved and connected. Photos are the best. One of the main reasons I can’t quite leave Instagram is because I love expressing myself through photography 📸
Thank you Tanya, you made perfect sense in your post. I woke up at 5.30 with one of my very very dark clouds hanging over me, as they sometimes do, the thoughts a jumble of negatives. Your post made me feel much better and determined to start writing properly, rather than just my substack posts. I agree about photos they can stimulate so much.

Thanks for your reply Satya, I’ve not heard of Brenda. I’ll look her up - thank you for the recommendation. 🙏
