Writing Down the Bones changed my life back in my twenties. I also love Wild Mind by same author, and read obsessively about her life of writing and painting in New Mexico. Attending one of her writing workshops there was a (sadly never realised) fantasy!
I have a list of books I want to read that’s so long it’s not a list anymore it’s an infinity. HOW DO YOU organise your reading time and book selection? One at a time or several on the go? I thought that if I used library books only that would help solve the dilemma. In fact it’s only added time pressure and return management issues! Sometimes the sheer number of interesting books stops me reading reviews and looking at new book launches. Book exchanges though always work a treat. As do recommendations.
I remember Writing Down the Bones being very inspiring, enough so that I also grabbed her book 'Old Friend from Far Away: The Practice of Writing Memoir', which was ALSO very enjoyable and inspiring!
I'm coming to the end of The Beholders by Hester Musson. A Victorian novel with a twist. Loved it. Also on my pile currently, 2 French books, of which a translation of H. Murakami After Dark, and the 2023 Prix Goncourt 'Veiller sur elle', which I'm eager to read following a friend's recommendation. I also have S King 'On Writing' - v readable and different, and 'Run to The Western Shore' by T Pears (not sure I'll get into that one). Any of those of interest to you? x
PS So glad your health scare seems to have come to nothing. Still keeping fingers crossed for you until you get the all clear.

It’s a real gem of a book. Shall we take a trip out to New Mexico, I’m sure Natalie would be up for a catch up over tea and cake 😉📚☕️🍰

Oh the joy to be surrounded by books. Which books are your top 5 atm? X

Natalie is an awesome human being. I think her books should be studied in schools 👌
No doubt!
Wow that is one very interesting stack of books. Beholders was recommended to me before. How is it?
Hope you’re keeping warm and cosy. I got drenched earlier 🤪 still lovely to out with the dogs though. Thanks for your caring words. Much appreciated
