I think I needed to be reminded of number 4, Tanya, thank you!

I also really appreciate those book recommendations - I've been meaning to get to 'How To Do Nothing' in particular :)

My pleasure. I love it when someone I follow, who’s opinion I trust writes recommendations for books and podcasts. Let me know what you think of ‘How to do nothing’. I’m pondering over her second book ‘Saving Time’ how to live life beyond the clock. Are you writing a book?

Absolutely, I've valued so many recommendations over the years!

I'll be trying to bump it up the ever-growing pile! (I think I need another organise of my reading list!) - I hadn't heard of her second one but interesting title.

I'm not writing one, no. Are you? :)

What lovely memories this instilled in me and resonates so much. I have to admit I am old enough to remember watching the Good Life the first time round, I was still at school ... just. I do watch it sometimes now. I can remember wanting that kind of life, but then my life and others lives got in the way. Now I am retired I am trying to simplify my life and be more Barbara, although Tom was a real chauvinist 😁.

Isn’t it funny what we think it is we want. A simple life yet cluttered with a list of stuff to do. I have started writing a NOT TO DO list. It’s remarkable how liberating it feels. Yay to Barbs 🙌

Yes me too ... my parents used to watch it every week and so that meant I had to too! No Netflix in those days 🤣🌻

What a lovely post! I especially liked those top tips at the end. I’m listening to the bird song and sitting in the sun as I type after finishing a busy work morning. Sometimes that’s all I need to feel “in” the good life!

Thanks for reading and for your very kind comment. Please send the sunshine vibes over here. It's a mild but very grey afternoon here in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Consider it sent. It’s been nearly balmy here late afternoon! ✨ 🌞

Love this 💕🌺 thanks so much for sharing. I take an extraordinary amount of pleasure from the simplest of things in life , I sometimes think I must be quite boring. I’m quite happy in my own space, working online, walking the dog, reading, watching Netflix, all that stuff. Having recovered from an accident recently I found it was putting one foot in front of the other and focusing even more on the little things that got me through. 🌻

I'm always reading! I'm reading Nina Stibbe's Man At The Helm at the moment, it's hilarious and the writing is so good. 🌺

I was reading your post, nodding along with it all, and then had a lovely surprise when I saw you'd included my Pressing Pause podcast! Thank you so much, that's very generous of you. I love The Good Life, lost count how many times I've watched it. When I was in the final year of primary school we had to write a letter to someone we admired, I chose Felicity Kendall aka Barbara Good! I don't think the letters were ever posted but I remember knowing instantly who I wanted to write to :)

Snap! It’s quite a nostalgic show for me. I sometimes wish we still only had 3 or 4 tv channels

Like everything in todays society there is way too much choice and then we wonder why are left feeling overwhelmed. I’m not quite yet into gardening but walking the same sandy shores with my Ridgebacks. Each day a different line of footsteps or if lucky no footsteps at all - beach to myself - bliss !
