Dear Friend
Welcome to another enriching Sunday WORD:ship session. I’m thrilled you could join me and I hope you’re ready to embark on a few moments of self-reflection and calm. Today’s session is not just about words; it’s about the power that they hold in shaping our thoughts, emotions and ultimately our week ahead.
You may dread the Monday morning blues or feel positively ready to start a brand new week, however you’re feeling right now, be assured that after spending the next 5-10 minutes or so journaling, you’ll be ready for the week ahead.
I have carefully crafted a selection of therapeutic journaling prompts to help bring out the best in your Sunday and set the tone for a brand new week. This session is designed to be a sanctuary for your thoughts, a playground for your creativity and a compass for your mindset. So make sure the kettle is on, as you’ll need a nice warm cuppa to sip whilst you ‘pause for thought’ with your journal.
In the next moments, you’ll engage with prompts that aim to unearth the positivity within, to channel any negative thoughts you may be struggling with into something more constructive. Each prompt is a stepping stone, crafted to help you navigate the complexities of life with a sprinkling of mindfulness. I absolutely love using journaling prompts. They are a great tool if you feel muddled or lost for what to journal about.
So grab your favourite journaling tools, I do advise you use pen and paper, but if you prefer to use a digital device, it is better than not journaling at all.
Please don’t feel like you have to use all the prompts I’ve created, maybe select just one or two that grab your attention. You could use one of the different prompts for each morning next week. Take your time, don’t rush and remember you don’t have to journal for pages and pages, if all you can manage is one word or one sentence then that is fine.
Remember, in order for you to adopt a daily journaling habit, it’s the showing up with your journal each day that’s important. The fact you’ve decided to dedicate the time, whether it be one minute or 10 minutes with your journal, this is the start of a good daily habit.
Journaling is a practice, just like yoga.
It’s takes dedication.
It takes commitment.
It takes perseverance.
In time, you will find that your daily journaling ritual will boost your mental health and increase your self-esteem.
Enjoy.
1. Write about a compliment or positive feedback you received recently. How can you internalise and build upon theses positive affirmations going into the week ahead?
2. Write about a challenge you are currently facing and brainstorm at least three positive actions you can take to address it, to help overcome it.
3. List three people who inspire you and explain why. How can you draw upon their qualities or experiences to cultivate positivity in your own life?
4. Explore a fear or negative anticipation that you have about the next few weeks. Break it down into manageable steps and consider how you can approach each step with a positive mindset?
5. Write about a challenging situation from someone else’s perspective. How might a positive interpretation or understanding change your view? What would you advise a friend if he/she was going through a similar challenge?
6. List three things you’ve achieved recently, no matter how small. How can you celebrate these accomplishments and use them to counteract feelings of inadequacy?
7. Write down a regret you have. How can you reframe it into a valuable lesson that contributes to your personal development?
8. Identify a situation where you feel stuck or overwhelmed. Break it down into smaller manageable steps and focus on the positive actions you can take to move forward.
Embrace these prompts. After journaling pause for thought. If you wish, you could read back through what you wrote. Ask yourself what happened in your body as you wrote? Did you experience any “A-Ha” moments? And what did you notice emotionally. I hope this Sunday WORD:ship session has uplifted you and helps you conquer the week ahead. If you have any thoughts or queries you’d like to discuss please leave me a message in the comments.
Until the next time
Take care and stay safe xx
