'New Month, New Collaborations'
Ah the joy of collaborating with wonderful human beings. I am beyond excited to announce that I shall be joining forces with the very talented and rather funny author, journalist Nell Frizzell this September.
She is best known for features and columns on gender, culture, art and politics, as well as many pieces on wild swimming. She lives in Oxford, with her partner, her son and a collection of Thomas the Tank Engine toys that, frankly, she never signed up for.
Nell has also featured several times on BBC Radio4’s Woman’s Hour.
Writing Motherhood with Ease
A truly unique writing retreat.
Would you like to join us?
Where: Spend a wonderful day steaming up the river through some of Oxfordshire’s most beautiful countryside on a private boat. Setting sail from Oxford city centre, overlooked by ancient colleges and even a few cows.
What to expect: Prepare for an adventure.
Both an adventure through your imagination, mind and writing, but also through the meadows and willow banks of Port Meadow and the countryside beyond.
Nell will lead a day full of specially-designed exercises and discussions to help you push towards the next stage of your writing project, whether that’s forming an idea, finding a structure, or improving your prose.
As a journalist and writer, Nell has dug deep into both the personal and the political, with a particular focus on women and motherhood. As well as writing a regular parenting column for Vogue, Nell has written for The Guardian, The Sunday Times, Grazia, The Observer, VICE, Elle and The Independent. She regularly contributes to the BBC, released a podcast to link in with her first book, The Panic Years and is the author of the novel Square One. Her most recent book, Holding The Baby is a memoir and a manifesto exploring early parenting, work, sex, family, housing and all the good stuff.
As the new term begins and the seasons begin to change, you can use this special creative retreat to explore your own intentions and ambitions; explore your voice; find momentum.
There will be a delicious catered picnic lunch, inspiring views and perhaps even a chance to swim with Nell in the wild waters of Oxfordshire!
This writing retreat is for you if…
You love writing but would like help structuring your ideas, enlivening your prose or advice on how to break into publishing.
You are keen to explore the theme of motherhood, in whatever way you choose to interpret it.
You would like to expand your style and approach with exciting, galvanising exercises and approaches.
