Dear Friend
How are you today?
I’ll be hitting the road later , leaving my happy place the “House on the Beach” and heading back to the city lights of Cardiff. Bittersweet times, but I’m looking forward to being reunited with my family, and especially excited that my eldest son returns from his winter season in the Austrian mountains, where he’s been living his best life as a ski instructor.
I’m so proud that he craves adventure, hungry to travel and explore the world whilst he works out what he really wants to do with his 20’s. Another creative person who I admire, and thrives off discovering new destinations, is Elizabeth Gilbert, the renowned author of Eat Pray Love.
This weekend I’ll be sat in the same room as her, as I’m attending her “Big Magic Retreat”, which promises to be filled with boundless inspiration and the vibrant energy of creativity that she is wildly famous for.
I’m excited to be immersed in the wisdom and insights of one of the world’s most beloved authors, delving deep into the secrets of creativity and inspiration. Gilbert’s words have touched hearts and sparked imaginations worldwide, and now she’s hosting a weekend retreat in London where I’m hoping she will guide me on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment.
I like Gilbert mostly for her empathy and generosity. From reading her books and listening to her podcasts, she has an uncanny way of encouraging us to embrace curiosity, let go of unnecessary burdens and highlight how to unlock hidden treasures within.
This weekend promises to be a magical experience, and more so because I'm meeting up with a few members from my ease community including
who has kindly offered to be my London guide for the weekend. I let you into a little secret I get quite anxious when travelling around London, the pace of life and the underground makes me feel quite dizzy. I wonder if I’ll return to Wales with a new sense of calm after being hit with some “BIG MAGIC” tonic.Let me know if you’re attending the retreat, as it would be SO amazing if we could all meet up in real life and say a quick “hello”.
Here is a podcast interview I loved listening to hosted by the ever so lovely
interviewing back in 2019 The Weather Forecast in our Minds and if you haven’t already read “Big Magic” it’s a book I highly recommend to anyone looking to discover and rekindle their creativity. It’s a real gem and a book I go back to time and time again!Until the next time
Take care and stay safe xx
The secret to enjoying london I think as I hate tubes… is getting the bus! If you can sit on a too deck of a bus and watch london out of the window it beats the tube any day. And ofcourse some trains are nicer than others I enjoy a thameslink and london overground too, bakerloo and circle lines are my least faves 😅. And walking of course, walking is a joy. 🙌🏻❤️ hope you enjoy London!
You will love everything about the weekend. 😘😘
