Retreating by the water soothes my soul

Dear Friend

How are you feeling today? Do not get me started about the weather! I was drenched in less than 30 seconds on the dog walk earlier, by what feels like a curtain of fine rain mist, you know the type, I call it irritable rain. Thank goodness, for my writing nook that’s filled with fairy lights, books, blankets and candles.

Recently, a few women have asked me about the concept of ‘retreats’ and ‘retreating’. It’s a good question, because in today’s society, ‘retreating’ has taken on a whole new significance. Far from being luxury, it has become a necessity. Especially for those, like myself, who are seeking balance and clarity in their lives. But what does it really mean to retreat?

I have many explanations about what ‘retreating’ means, since I launched Ease Retreats back in 2017, lots has changed with the business and me as a person.

At its core, retreating is about creating a deliberate pause in the rhythm of our daily lives. It’s a time to step back from the constant demands of our to-do lists, the expectations of others and the noise of the world around us. This pause allows us to process what’s actually happening in our lives, to give us the opportunity to reflect deeply and then in essence to heal.

When was the last time you really did pause?

Have you ever retreated?

The importance of retreating cannot be overstated. Many women today, me included, have been guilty of this - where often we equate busyness with worth, so taking time for oneself can feel indulgent or even selfish. However, it’s precisely this time that allows us to recharge, reassess and return to our lives with renewed energy and perspective.

I’ll let you into a little secret…
