Blimey Charlie its’s warm out today. Are you finding it mild out? I’m not complaining but it’s October the 1st, 20 degrees here in South Wales and I couldn’t believe I was out walking the hounds through the sand dunes in only a vest.
I do love an early morning hike on a Sunday, it’s the perfect excuse for me to be pacing as I’m not very good at sitting still. I managed to walked for over an hour along the coastline and not bump into a soul. What I call a blissful start to a Sunday.
Now I’m back to base, I’m trying to rest my busy mind. I mentioned to my partner wouldn’t it be nice if I could actually take a day off, enjoy a roast dinner and watch a movie. He replied with “Impossible! The day I see you totally relax is usually when you’re poorly”. Oops!
If like me you struggle to really relax on a Sunday, I have some therapeutic journaling prompts that might be just the salve you’re looking for…
‘Describe the restlessness you’re feeling this Sunday, what thoughts and concerns are occupying your mind?’
‘Reflect on the reasons behind your restlessness. Are there any specific triggers or patterns you’ve noticed?’
‘Consider the physical sensations associated with restlessness. How does it manifest in your body?’
‘Write about your ideal Sunday afternoon routine. What activities or practices help you unwind and find peace?’
‘Explore the concept of mindfulness. How can you be more present in the moment to quiet your restless thoughts?’
I hope these prompts will provide you with a therapeutic space to explore and address restlessness on this Sunday. Let them guide you towards a moment of relaxation and if possible a sense of tranquility.
Putting pen to paper, even whilst your home might be a little chaotic, will help you unload your racing thoughts. I find that this simple act of self-expression always helps me untangle the mental knots that often accompany my restlessness.
Let me know how you get on with the above prompts.
I’m hoping to find a quiet 20 minutes with my journal later. All I have to do is step away from the laundry basket, ignore the pile of ironing and my ridgebacks that are doing a great job of messing up my zen den. Oh the joys of a Sunday afternoon in a busy household.
Until the next time
Take care and stay safe xxx
