Ah the joy of a ‘go slow’ Sunday. It’s a blissful feeling and the perfect day to ditch the devices to dive into a good book. I’m going to take a digital detox this afternoon. So, I thought I’d leave you with a few journaling prompts, book recommendations and an ‘easy listening’ podcast interview. Enjoy!
Book Recommendations:
The Ikigai way to life - what’s not to love about it? I bought a while back and dive back into it to remind myself of its concepts and life changing tools. In summary, Ikigai is a Japanese concept loosely translated into English as the ‘purpose of life’. The book is about people living in Okinawa - Japan, who have found a way to live a fulfilling life. It quite simply explains how we can all strive to live a comfortable life. I highly recommend this book if you are striving to find purpose and a state of flow in everything you do in life.
Oh I love to read the interesting and fascinating articles that
broadcasts here on Substack. Her book The Discomfort Zone is a real gem, especially if you’re interested in learning more about how to get what you want by living fearlessly. A great gift for all the women in your life! One of my favourite authors Elizabeth Strout has written a real classic. Lucy By The Sea, it is a beautiful and poignant novel. A book that really resonated with me. Strout's story of family and motherhood mixes ordinary life with an extraordinary narrative. The insights are deep and moving and touch on so much, giving you a chance to understand your own feelings which you may not have grasped before. Elizabeth Strout is on my wish list of authors to collaborate with for Ease Retreats.
My Favourite Podcast Interview Of the Week:
The Shift with Sam Baker - Maggie Smith on her midlife reappearing act, perfect listen if you’re off on a Sunday afternoon walk or drive.
I hope you’re enjoying a lazy Sunday afternoon with a good book, and if you get the chance, let me know what you’re reading.
Until the next time
Take care & stay safe xxx
I’ve just finished Service by Sarah Gilmartin- a story of sexual harassment culture in a restaurant told by the chef, his wife and the waitress victims. Obviously not a light read but well written and thought provoking
Kindle has no charge so I’m going old school and reading a proper book... now to make the decision 🤷🏻♀️
