Remember when Sundays used to sacred, a day reserved for rest, reflection and a moment to reclaim our peace. In the chaos that now starts to really ramp up during the month of December, that tranquility seems elusive.
I’m so guilty of rushing about the place first thing, even on a Sunday. As a fellow ‘company of one’, I know the drill - the relentless ‘to do’ lists, the constant being in motion with family errands, plus the feeling of guilt when you eventually sit down. But amidst the frenzy, there’s a precious gift awaiting, the art of making yourself a priority on a Sunday morning.
When was the last time you truly made space for yourself? Today, I’m going to rewind to honour those forgotten Sundays and restore their essence. You might care to join me to pause for thought, by opening your journal and reclaim the calmness with some Sunday WORD:ship journaling prompts.
This is your opportunity to take 10 minutes to reflect and nurture your inner self amidst the buzz of the world around you. Festive retail frenzy or not, let’s carve out a moment for some personal restoration and growth. I dare you to journal for the next few minutes, try and soak up these prompts and grant yourself this gift of a ‘go slow’ Sunday morning.
1. Recall a moment from a past winter that holds a sense of peace. Write about how you can recreate the same calmness today, even if you have a busy household.
2. Reflect on the impact of social media on your Sundays. How would your day change if you consciously unplugged from these platforms for just a day?
3. Write a heartfelt letter to someone special in your life. What would you tell them about yourself, maybe you could describe the adventures you enjoyed in 2023, highlighting plans for 2024, and the hope of meeting up one day soon.
4. If you could redesign your ideal Sunday, what would it look like? Describe your dream in detail, focusing on activities that bring you joy and the things you’d love to indulge in.
5. What does rest mean to you? Describe the feeling of true restfulness and how it impacts your mental and emotional state?
Feel free to explore these prompts at your own pace and let them guide you into a deeper reflection on the value of Sundays and the power of mindful journaling. I’m off to write my December newsletter.
Until the next time
Take care & stay safe xx
If I were not awake in the middle of the night scrolling on Substack reading, I might not have seen your post. Your post that is to stop scrolling! It made me laugh. Those look like great prompts if I didn’t have so many other things I was already doing for my newsletter I might try one. I like the idea of writing a letter. I am busy scanning in old letters to declutter and wishing we did that again.
