Dear Friend
How are you feeling today? Good I hope. I’m doing ok, I just can’t believe it’s Tuesday already and almost August - eek! Are the days and month zooming by for you too?
Since the beginning of July, I’ve been meaning to write about how therapeutic journaling can help improve self-esteem and build confidence, as it’s something I dearly love to talk about. Let’s face it, we all have those days when we feel like we’re not good enough. But who is there sat next to you cheering you on when you need it the most eh?
Enter therapeutic journaling, as I like to call it - your personal cheerleader in written form.
Journaling isn’t just about ‘dear diary’ moments or listing what you had for lunch. It’s a powerful way to explore your thoughts, challenge negative beliefs, and celebrate your wins - no matter how small. When you put pen to paper you’re creating a judgement free zone where you can be unapologetically you.
So if you’re wondering, how does scribbling in a notebook actually boost your self-esteem? Well, it’s like giving your brain a mini workout. You know I like to preach about daily journaling, even if it’s just one word, one day at a time, regular journaling helps you identify negative thought patterns and replace them with more positive, realistic ones. It’s also a great way to track your progress and remind yourself of all the cool things you’ve accomplished, yes you have!
But here’s the thing journaling for self-esteem isn’t about toxic positivity or pretending everything’s perfect. It’s actually ok to write about your struggles, fears and insecurities. The real magic happens when you start to challenge these thoughts and reframe them in a more compassionate light. When was the last time you were brutally honest with how you’re feeling? The good, the bad and the down right ugly thoughts?? I dare you to be really raw in your journal today!
Do you have a spare 5 minutes now?
