For some, it’s the grandeur of cathedrals or the tranquility of mountain tops that inspire a sense of reverence.  But for me, my sanctuary lies where the horizon meets the endless expanse of the ocean.  Every day I am blessed with the opportunity to commune with the sea, to feel its rhythm and to immerse myself into its striking beauty.
The ocean, with its vastness and ever changing moods, just like me, is more than just a natural wonder.  It is my church, my place of worship.  I love to stand on the shoreline, whatever the weather, with my ridgebacks standing on guard either side of me.  I’ll never tire of the salty breeze kissing my skin and the sound of the crashing waves soothing my soul.  I am forever grateful that I live so close to the beach.  Each day I witness something new - a group of sea swimmers prancing and giggling in the shallows, grains of sand weaved around scattered driftwood and in the distance a fishing boat hugging the coastline.
In the presence of the ocean, I find solace, inspiration and a profound sense of gratitude.  Sometimes I rage against the waves.  It’s a liberating experience and a great way to start the day. I call the ocean my church because its where I go to reflect, to find peace amidst the chaos of everyday life.  More than anything, its a place I trust, where I go to connect with something greater than myself.
I marvel at the beauty.  Same beach. Same time. It never disappoints. The fiery sunrises this month have been nothing short of epic.  Each one painting the sky in hues of gold and crimson.  I’ve enjoyed losing myself in the mesmerising dance of the sunlight on the water’s surface.  So hypnotising. So quenching. Each moment I spend by the ocean fills me with a deep sense of wonder and belonging.
Like a pocketful of happiness, I am truly blessed to have the ocean as my constant companion. Â To be able to walk with the dogs, uninterrupted, beach to ourselves, before the world wakes up, is a blessing. Â It is a sacred place where I am reminded of the beauty of existence and the endless possibilities that lie right on my doorstep.
Until the next time
Take care and stay safe xxx
For her, the ocean was more than a dream, it was a place she needed to visit to find herself.
Wow, I love this!!! My sanctuary is definitely being in the woods, surrounded by nature. I am glad you had this opportunity to rest and reconnect :)
This resonated with me immensely. I've written a piece on my sanctuary in the countryside, I'd like to send it to you to see what you think of it!
