In the vast landscape of music, there are moments when a song transcends its notes and lyrics, reaching deep within your soul. I have a quick question for you… when was the last time a song or lyric literally stopped you in your tracks? I experienced this earlier whilst on my morning walk. I was listening to a track by the incredible Emma Kok. It touched deep into my core. It brought me to tears in an instant!
At the tender age of 15, Emma carries not only a voice that resonates like an angel but also a spirit that defies the challenges of a chronic illness. Her rendition of “Voila” is nothing short of a musical masterpiece, a performance that moves hearts and brings tears to the eyes. I first listened to it at 8am, kept pressing replay and then watched a short video of her performance with Andre Rieu when I returned back to the beach house. When the camera zoomed into the audience, there wasn’t a dry eye in the stadium. I kept replaying the track over and over again. Here’s the thing, I never sing or whistle out loud, but as I stomped along the rugged coastal path between Tresaith and Aberporth, I kept humming the tune over and over out loud. The dogs kept looking up at me, they knew I was emotional, they could see there were tears in my eyes. Honestly, I was mesmerised by the sheer beauty and depth of Emma’s singing.
In the face of adversity, Emma’s voice shines brightly, which reminded me of the transformative power of music and the extraordinary strength found within the human spirit. I’ve decided to dedicate this song to my Dad, who has been driving for over an hour back and forth each day to the hospital, so he can receive his radiotherapy treatment for prostate cancer. My Dad is always in my thoughts and will be, now more than ever, each time I play “Voila" by Emma Kok.
If you get the opportunity to listen to Emma sing, I hope her voice moves you but more than anything soothes you, as much as it did for me. What the world needs now is more love, but more beautiful music by this gentle soul Emma Kok. Here is the YouTube link to her performance singing “Voila” https://shorturl.at/tvNW9
Until the next time
Take care & stay safe xxx
