Dear Friend
How are you feeling today?
I’m back at it! It’s the start of a new day, a new week, and a new month. I’m feeling rather good, full of gusto, and ready to conquer the day. Even though last night, only a few hours ago, I wasn’t feeling so chirpy.
Something interesting happened to me on LinkedIn last night.
Something that knocked my confidence.
I immediately felt embarrassed.
But then I paused for thought and considered my mistake.
I realised it’s ok that mistakes still happen, and will keep happening, even at 49 years of age.
I received a direct message at 7:44pm from a friend, a copy writer friend, who noticed I’m made a grammatical error in one of my LinkedIn posts.
It was an important post to me, because it was one where I was requesting help from my LinkedIn community, kindly asking if they would share my post to their HR contacts, as a referral. I’m keen to speak to HUMAN resource managers, because I’d like to discuss my idea of hosting therapeutic journaling workshops in the workplace. Asking for referrals on LinkedIn is a big deal to me, I don’t do it very often, yet it’s something I should have the confidence to do more often.
Here’s the thing…
The way I work is without hesitation.
I just go on and DO!
I’m a DOER.
Always have been, always will be.
I’m a grafter, and I thrive off having a purpose, which involves helping others channel their emotions into something more positive and creative through the written word.
I’m not a perfectionist.
I don’t use spell check.
I say it how it is.
There are times when I struggle with words, both when I write and especially when I speak.
I speak before I think, so I’ve been told, a million times! My words get mixed up, I create words that actually don’t exist. But to me they do. It’s quite hilarious really.
Apparently this mixing up of words is called “Malapropisms” .
Another very dear friend of mine said I should have collected my “malapropisms” and written a book about them - now there’s an idea.
The lesson here is…
Be YOU!
Make mistakes.
Laugh at the messiness.
Whatever happens, the HUMAN side of you will never be replaced!
I found it quite ironic that as I was writing my message on LinkedIn, there was a button, an icon above my keyboard that said “Rewrite with AI”.
I rest my case!
Oh and for those wonderful HUMAN Resource Managers that I’d love to connect with - you won’t meet a more “HUMAN” being than me. One that makes mistakes, but one who will always make you smile.
“My name is Tanya, I help women channel their emotions into something more positive and creative through the practice of therapeutic journaling. It’s changing lives”
Until the next time
Take care and stay safe xx

As someone who recently sent out a newsletter and received a very terse one-line response from someone imploring me to 'educate myself' over apostrophe usage I can definitely sympathise with this. And yes to the journaling challenge - this first prompt is exactly what I needed to write about today.
I love them idea of your malapropisms book. If you think one error is bad. I wrote a 50 page report. It had to be delivered in draft a councillor spent 15 minutes going through my grammar…rather than the findings which showed their service was dreadful ….. my grammar is appalling 🤦🏻♀️
