Dear friend
How are you feeling today? The sun is blasting down over the South Wales coastline and I’m loving it, great start to the 1st June.
Today I want to share with you a collection of journaling prompts that have been my companion throughout this week. If you’ve read my Substack this week you may have used some of these prompts. As you’ll know, I’m a firm believer in the transformative power of journaling - it’s a practice that allows us to dive deep into our thoughts, untangle our emotions and chart the course toward personal growth.
This week’s prompts have been particularly rich, touching on themes that resonate deeply with our shared journey toward a more intentional and fulfilling life.
I focused my writing on topics such as “embracing freedom in nature” as there’s an undeniable liberation in stepping away from our structured lives and into the open arms of the natural world, which was inspired by my time at the Big Retreat Festival last weekend. Oh how I adore to spend mindless hours by the coastline!
Another favourite topic of mine, was about “finding fulfilment in life’s timeless efforts”. And one of my favourite topics being “the power of tiny habits”. I’m really passionate about discussing the misconception that significant life changes require grand gestures. When in reality, it’s the small, consistent actions that reshape our lives over time. Like a pebble causing ripples in the ocean, a tiny habit - be it a moment to pause for thought, journaling one word, one day at a time, a short meditation or a brisk walk - can create far reaching effects. I loved creating journaling prompts to help you identify a potential tiny habit and how to weave it seamlessly into your daily routine.
Did any of my journaling prompts resonate with you?
I’d love to know how you get on with any of the prompts I curate.
I’ve included all the prompts from this week in a list below, please help yourself! I hope they spark introspection, challenge assumptions and perhaps even inspire a new tiny habit or perspective. Feel free to adapt them to your own context or use them as springboards for further exploration. Maybe you’d care to share with me any insights you’ve uncovered? What challenges you faced this week? Because your stories not only enrich your own journey, but they also inspire this entire community here on Substack with ease.
Happy journaling dear friend.
Until the next time
Take care and stay safe. xx
This week’s journaling prompts:
28.05.2024 - Inspired by my experience at The Big Retreat Festival
1. Reflect on a time when you felt connected to nature. Describing the setting in vivid detail using all five senses. How did that connection make you feel?
2. If you could spend a few days completely disconnected from digital devices in a tranquil natural setting, what would that look and feel like? Visualise your ideal off the grid setting.
3. Make a list of the people in your life with whom you share a deep, soulful human connection. What makes those bonds so meaningful? Journal about a memorable moment with one of those individuals.
29.05.2024 - What really lights you up and boost your energy levels…
1. If your inner child could speak to you now, what simple activities or experiences would they encourage you to rediscover?
2. Describe your ideal morning routine - one that truly nourishes your mind, body and spirit without the influence of external pressures or trends.
3. Reflect on a time when you felt grounded and content within yourself, without seeking external validation or the latest self-improvement hack. That did your state of being feel like?
4. Imagine giving advice to your future grandchild about cultivating true, lasting wellbeing. What wisdom would you share?
5. Write about a simple act of self-care that you can easily incorporate into your day today, without any special equipment or costly investments.
30.05.2024 - I dearly hope that my prompts will help you kick start your new tiny journaling habit…
1. What is the one word that captures how you feel today? Free-write about that word and let it lead you to wherever it may take you. I call this a micro-movement and my students love this writing exercise.
2. Make a list of the role’s, identities or paths you’ve tried on in your life’s journey so far. Which ones felt authentic? Which ones caused you to feel out of alignment?
3. “One word at a time, one day at a time” - reflect on what showing up with this mindset has allowed you to create or experience in your life.
31.05.2024 - A few prompts that might springboard you into discovering what your true purpose in life could be...
1. If your soul could speak, what is the one piece of advice it would offer you on your current path?
2. Describe your vision for your most radiant authentic life in vivid detail. What does it look and feel like when you are fully embodied in your purpose?
3. One word at a time, one day at a time - reflect on what showing up with this mindset has allowed you to create or experience in your life.
4. Make a list of qualities, values and strengths that feel core to your essence. How might fully inhabiting those traits lead you towards your purpose?
5. What is one small, simple act you can commit to doing today that will make you feel more intimately connected to yourself?
That is such a great quote! 🌊
