Have you ever noticed how your best Substack ideas come when you’re not chasing them? That moment when you’re out and about walking, or after you’ve literally jumped in the shower and you’ve no notebook to hand. What if you could intentionally create that idea generating space, a full day dedicated to hearing your own thoughts and allowing your creative vision to unfold, write them down and share with others?
This is exactly what
and I are offering in our upcoming retreat on Friday 9th May. It’s not just another productivity workshop or content creation masterclass. It’s something far more valuable: sacred time to reconnect with your thoughts, your vision, and the quiet ambitions that have been patiently waiting for you attention. What happens when dreamers gather?
There’s something magical about sitting in a gorgeous space with like-minded women who understand the wonderful joy of building something meaningful on Substack. Women who nod knowingly when you talk about that 2am idea that wouldn’t let you sleep. Women who don’t raise an eyebrow when you speak about your newsletter subscribers as if they’re friends you haven’t met yet.
In our tranquil setting, away from the daily demands and distractions, we’ll create the conditions for your best thinking to emerge. Through guided creative writing exercises, you’ll watch your own words surprise you, revealing the vision of your Substack newsletter that perhaps has been hiding in plain sight all along.
Between big dreams and quiet ambition…
We all carry two voices within us. There’s the voice of our “Big Dreams”, bold, expansive, sometimes intimidatingly so. And then there’s the voice of our “quiet ambition”, the steady, persistent knowing of what truly matters to us, what we’re genuinely called to create.
During our Substack with Ease day retreat, we’ll explore the conversation between these voices. What are your big dreams asking of you? How can you better align with your quiet ambition? Because sometimes the most powerful shift isn’t a complete reinvention but a subtle realignment, bringing your Substack newsletter into greater harmony with what genuinely lights you up.
From vision to implementation
Of course, dreams need grounding too. That’s why Claire has designed the afternoon as a practical workshop for those who want to roll up their sleeves and dive into the nuts and bolts of their Substack. With laptops open and Claire’s expert guidance, we’ll sort, tag and organise, transforming the morning’s inspiration into tangible structure.
Remember the satisfaction of finding the perfect category that you want to write about? Or the relief of finally implementing different sections into your Substack that you’ve been meaning to get to for months? There’s a special kind of flow that comes with these tasks when you’re surrounded by others doing the same work, each person occasionally looking up to share a question or a victory.
Why 2025 needs this day in your calendar…
We’re living in strange times. The online world grows noisier by the day, making it increasingly difficult to hear our own thoughts, let alone articulate them clearly to others. Yet there’s never been more hunger for authentic voices and thoughtfully curated spaces.
Your Substack isn’t just another platform, it’s your digital homestead, a place where you set the tone and create the culture. But building something meaningful requires occasional stepping back, gaining perspective, and reconnecting with why you started in the first place.
This day retreat is that stepping back.
It’s your permission to daydream with purpose. It’s creating deliberate space for the ideas that need incubation, not acceleration. Blimey we all need a bit of calm, a slower pace to gather our thoughts and the opportunity to be looked after with a nutritious lunch, endless cups of tea, cake and a goody bag.
So check your diary, hopefully Friday 9th May will be free, so you can dedicate the day entirely to yourself and your vision. If you can join us, bring with you your hopes and your laptop and let’s create something beautiful together, starting with the most important foundation… clarity about your Substack newsletter, the community you’re building and why.
PS. This day retreat is for established writers, and those with no experience at all, you are all very welcome!
Until the next time
Take care and stay safe xx

About me… I’m Tanya Lynch, a mother, a ridgeback owner and the founder of Ease Retreats. I love what I do, collaborating with authors and creatives, hosting retreats in beautiful venues across the UK. Most recently I became a certified bibliotherapist offering book prescriptions and launched The Bibliotherapists podcast with my co-host Toni Jones. I’m also a therapeutic journalling coach and through my programme ‘Rage on a Page’, I help midlife women channel their emotions into something more positive and creative in less than 60 days. Each Thursday I host an online journaling club ‘Journal with Ease’ and it’s free for paid subscribers to attend. If you have any questions about the benefits of therapeutic journalling, please reach out and connect. I’m usually on a beach walking the dogs, hosting retreats, writing in my journal or on Substack.
All good and glorious!!!
