What are you going to do with this extra special day?
29th February is a gift of a day, thanks to the extraordinary phenomenon of a leap day.
“A leap year whispers secrets of possibility, reminding us that even time itself can bend to accommodate our dreams”
I find today quite a surreal opportunity, where time itself seems to pause for a moment, granting us one additional day every four years. An entire 24 hours extra. Which begs the question, what will you do with this precious, extraordinary day?
Have you ever paused to contemplate the significance of this extra day? I know lots of us have to work, business as usual, but for some of us, it’s a rare opportunity, a chance to break free from the routine and the ordinary.
Once I’ve completed my morning tasks and hosted my ‘Journal with Ease’ club at 1pm, I’m going to take myself off on an Artist Date. My lovely friend
wrote about it recently on Substack Why I Love Going on Artist DatesI’m going to mooch around a few local bookshops, stop off at one of my favourite cafe’s for a rather large slice of lemon drizzle cake, and return my library books. A blissful way to appreciate this extraordinary day.
To help you make the most of this extra special day, I’ve curated a list of therapeutic journaling prompts designed to inspire reflection, gratitude and intention setting, enjoy!
1. Imagine your ideal day, if you could design the perfect day from start to finish, how would you spend your extra 24 hours?
2. What do you hope to achieve or experience during this extra day? Write down your intentions and commit to making them a reality.
3. Spend some time outdoors, take 10 minutes to write about the sights, sounds and sensations you experience.
4. Allow yourself to be open to unexpected opportunities and experiences. Write about any surprises or delights that come your way.
5. Take some time to reconnect with loved ones. Reach out to friends or family members you haven’t spoken to in a while. Reflect on the importance of connection and relationships in your life. Write a letter to a dear elder, you’ll certainly be making someone happy.
As you embark on this journey of self-discovery and exploration, remember even if you don’t have the opportunity to do something just for you, savour a moment of this extraordinary day. It is a rare gift.
Until the next time
Take care and stay safe xx
I’m taking this afternoon off for coffee, cake and writing in my village. I try and do an artist date regularly now, sometimes it’s more grand but the small ones are equally as lovely. I’m also considering the memoir retreat in May, so need to email you 🩷 Enjoy your mooch around the bookshops x
