Dear Friend
How are you today? I’m slowly on the mend, yay! I might even do a little dance, well, maybe a shuffle to celebrate the return of going back to normality.
As it’s Sunday, I thought it would be fitting to create a “Sunday WORD:ship” session, a moment to “pause for thought” and take 5 minutes to journal, care to join me?
If you’re feeling pressed for time or overwhelmed, don’t worry. Sometimes, the most powerful journaling sessions start with just one word. There’s no need for editing or judgement - simply put your pen to the page and let whatever comes, come.
Here are a few journaling prompts to guide your reflection:
1. What’s the first word that comes to mind when you think about your past week?
2. If your emotions from this week were a colour, what would they be?
3. What’s the one thing you’re feeling frustrated about right now? What’s the one thing you’re feeling grateful for right now?
4. Describe your current mood in three words.
5. What’s one small win you had this week that you haven’t acknowledged yet?
6. If you could give your past self from last Sunday one piece of advice, what would it be?
7. What’s the one thing you’re looking forward to this week?
8. Finish this sentence stem, "Right now, I need…”
9. What’s one way you could show yourself kindness today?
10. If you could sum up your hopes for the coming week, would would they be?
As I keep mentioning, there’s no right or wrong way to approach these prompts. If you’re really short on time or feeling stuck, simple write the date and a few words that capture how you’re feeling. Dare to "rage on a page" if that’s how you feel.
The act of pausing, connecting with yourself and putting pen to paper, even for just a moment, can be incredibly grounding and therapeutic.
As you close your journal, take a deep breath.
Inhale the calm, exhale any lingering tension.
Try and carry this moment of stillness with you as you move through your day and the week ahead.
Whenever I spend time journaling, it’s not always long or elaborate to be effective. Over the years, these moments have added up, and have contributed to my overall wellbeing as it will for you. If you try and commit to a regular journaling practice I promise you, it will help you navigate life’s ups and downs with greater ease and clarity.
I’m launching "Journal Through July" tomorrow, 30 days of journaling, one word, one day at a time. I’ll be over on Instagram engaging with my audience, but I’ll also drop the prompts and top tips here in my Substack too. You’re most welcome to join me and my supportive ease community of like-minded women, who are all super lush.
Remember you’re always just one word away from reconnecting with yourself.
Until the next time
Take care and stay safe xx

Tanya, I love what you're doing here. It's hard to overstate how much journaling has helped me deal with midlife challenges. I "raged on the page" until I found the freedom to move on. Now I'm writing a book about it! xo thanks for what you're doing!
