Hello new followers and familiar faces, it’s a real pleasure to connect with you and thank you for subscribing to my Substack ‘with ease'. It’s been a really wonderful week for me personally, for many reasons, if you’ve read my previous posts this week you’ll know why!
If you’re a new follower, welcome to Sunday WORD:ship, my soulful twist on the conventional Sunday worship.
Here on my Substack I encourage my readers to embrace the art of therapeutic journaling. Providing prompts each Sunday that invite you to delve into unchartered territories of your thoughts and emotions. Unlike traditional Sunday gatherings, this is an opportunity to nourish your inner self through the power of introspective writing
Are you up for it?
Each Sunday, instead of hymns and sermons, join me to embark on a different kind of spiritual exploration - a sacred space where prompts are the verses, guiding you through the pages of your journal. It’s an invitation to ponder topics that might have never crossed your mind as potential journaling material.
In this little sanctuary of words, I hope you’ll be able to transcend the ordinary and explore the extraordinary facets of life - the unexplored corners of our minds. Through therapeutic journaling you should be able to unravel layers, discover insights and paint your emotions with the strokes of pen and paper. Those that know me well, will know how passionate I am about encouraging people who are new to journaling, to use traditional writing tools rather than using their digital devices.
The act of writing by hand goes far beyond just putting words on paper. It has numerous cognitive benefits that can enhance memory, improve cognitive skills, and boost creativity. FACT!
So if you find yourself on this Sunday afternoon, struggling to journal, please do join me each Sunday as we navigate uncharted territories. I guarantee you will embark on a journey of self-discovery and introspection like never before.
Here are a few prompts centered around the theme of being seen and the significance of not hiding ourselves away…
1. Reflect on Visibility - How does it feel to be truly seen by someone? Describe an experience where you felt genuinely understood and acknowledged. What emotions arise when you allow yourself to be seen?
2. Hiding in Plain Sight - Have there been moments when you’ve concealed parts of yourself to conform to societal norms or expectations? Explore the reasons behind this concealment and how it feels to hide aspects of your identity.
3. The Power of Authenticity - What does it mean to you to show up authentically in your life? Reflect on the importance of embracing your true self and the impact it has on your wellbeing and relationships?
4. Fears of Visibility - Are there fears or anxieties surrounding being seen for who you truly are? Identify any barriers or insecurities that hinder your willingness to be seen and explore ways to overcome them.
5. Invisible Emotions - Consider emotions or experiences that often go unnoticed or unacknowledged by others. How does it feel when these emotions are disregarded? Reflect on the significance of giving visibility to these overlooked feelings?
Let me know how you get on if you use one or all of the above prompts, as I’d love to know if you found them helpful. For those of you who don’t know, I host therapeutic journaling workshops and programs when I’m not hosting writing retreats. I’m on a mission to help anyone learn how to 'journal with ease', because it is a such a transformation practice. I know, because therapeutic journaling has helped me. It’s changed my life!
Until the next time
Take care & stay safe xx
