“Embrace the unhurried pace of life, for it is in these moments that we truly live”.
As the week begins anew, I find myself savouring the quiet simplicity of this Monday. Coming off the heels or trainers of International Women’s Day and the recent celebration of Mother’s Day, the pace of life seems to have quickened with events and emotions running high. Yet, today, I feel the urge to slow it right down, to breathe deeply and to embrace the ordinary moments that make up the fabric of everyday life.
There’s a certain comfort in returning to the rhythm of normal life, in letting go to the highs and lows of the past few days, and simply relishing in the simplicity of the present moment. I was marching over the pavements with the Ridgebacks earlier, thinking about my "To Do" list, but my thundering headache was my body’s way of screaming “Just let it go Tanya”!
Have you ever read the book The Body Keeps the Score by Dr Bessel van Der Kolk? It’s such a transformative read, that delves into the intricate relationship between trauma and the body’s response. The book offers profound insights into the ways in which our experiences shape our physical and emotional wellbeing. To be honest, it’s quite an eye opener.
As someone who tends to push through discomfort and ignore the signals of my own body, the book The Body Keeps the Score served as a poignant reminder of the importance of slowing down and listening to what my body is trying to tell me. I highly recommend this publication if you are someone who is seeking to better understand the mind-body connection, and embark on a journey towards healing.
Though my "To do" list may be long and tasks may beckon for attention, I’m choosing to approach Monday with a gentler pace, allowing myself the grace to move slowly and intentionally.
What do you have planned for this Monday?
Will you try and take it slowly with ease?
I’d love to hear from you as you’d be the perfect distraction.
Until the next time
Take care and stay safe xx
