I’m a professional over thinker. The kind of person whose mind never really switches off. Thoughts bounce around, loop back on themselves and for me tangle into knots of confusion. I’ll find myself replaying a conversation from weeks ago, wondering what was meant by a single word. I’ll catastrophise over something that might never happen. I’ll also second guess myself, my choices, my worth, usually all before breakfast. Sound familiar?
If you’re a woman who spends a lot of time in her own head you know how exhausting this can be. It’s like having a browser with fifty tabs open all at once. Some tabs are helpful. Most are just noise. And the mental clutter? It’s relentless.
For years, I tried to fix this. I tried meditation (my mind wandered). I tried breathing exercises (I forgot to do them). I tried talking to friends (they couldn’t fathom it). I tried everything except the one thing that actually works: moving my emotions.
