I’ve just got back from a dog walk along the coastal path with my best buddy, who is big into the magic of the the lunar eclipse. She inspired me to focus on setting some intentions for the month ahead, especially as there is big moon and the fact the clocks go back this evening. Do you set intentions? If so, do you have a ritual? Please share 🙏
This weekend we will witness the Hunter’s Moon. According to experts at NASA, this full moon is also a partial lunar eclipse, an imperfect alignment of the sun, Earth and moon that results in the moon passing through only part of Earth's umbra. The Hunter's Moon is also a reminder of the changing seasons.
According to the Farmer's Almanac, the term "Hunter's Moon" was coined because during this period, the moon rises relatively early in the evening, providing extended illumination. This extra light allowed both hunters and gatherers to make the most of the fading daylight hours and gather essential resources before winter's chill set in.
Here in Cardiff, the moon actually looked quite spooky last night. So prominent and very demanding of my attention. Perfect timing, as I guess there will be lots of folk out on the streets celebrating Halloween this evening. Me?! I’ll be well and truly hibernating under the duvet watching a good old fashioned ‘rom com’ like ‘You’ve Got Mail’ wishing I owned a little bookshop on the corner, with a cute and mysterious customer called Mr Fox.
There is something quite magical about a full moon, don’t you agree? Adorned in its full grandeur, it certainly invites us to cast a contemplative gaze into our lives. Plus, this evening, time will take a gentle step back with the clocks falling behind, which grants us a VERY precious extra hour. I’ve decided to use the extra hour tomorrow as a pocket of time to recalibrate, a moment to shed what no longer serves me and to plant the seeds of my new aspirations.
What about you? How will you indulge in the extra hour? If you haven’t given it much thought, other than sleep, I dare you to pause for thought and journal. You never know what ideas you’ll create or intensions you’ll set if you set aside at least 10mins to fill the blank page.
Maybe I could inspire you to journal by providing you with a prompt, it’s one I posted earlier on my socials and plan to do more later this evening. You’re very welcome to join me over on Instagram @easeretreats for more therapeutic journaling prompts
Until the next time
Take care and stay safe xx
Ah sounds dreamy. You can’t beat a moon reflection over the ocean. Enjoy 🌒
Wonderful piece. Captived by your words associated with the moon I saw last night 🌙 an inspiration to take a journal leap. Often guilty of non stopness. This is the prompt I needed for pause and ponder.
