Since hosting my “Rage on a Page” programs, I’ve listened to so many women explain to me what the word “RAGE” means to them, and it is fascinating. Women from all walks of life have been sharing their personal stories on why they struggle to channel their emotions. But more importantly, on the eve of International Women’s Day, these wonderful women are now ready to lean into their “RAGE” and use it as a powerful source for positivity and creativity.
Here’s the thing… female rage has been shrouded in myths, fuelled by societal narratives that undermine its validity. Often misunderstood as hysteria or deemed unacceptable, it disrupts traditional roles. Yet within this rage lie so many untold stories, unspoken truths and voices longing for validation.
Jane a midlife woman in her early 50’s, found herself grappling with intense feelings of frustration and anger after going through a difficult divorce. Struggling to cope with the emotional turmoil, she turned to therapeutic journaling as a way to release her emotions constructively. Through her journaling practice, Jane began to explore the underlying causes of her rage, unraveling long-held beliefs and patterns that had contributed to her unhappiness. As she delved deeper into her thoughts and feelings on the page, Jane discovered a newfound sense of empowerment and clarity.
Over time, her journaling evolved into a powerful tool for self-discovery and healing, allowing her to transform her anger into a catalyst for positive change. It wasn’t all smooth riding, as she experiences days, sometimes weeks, where her words seemed trapped and on certain occasions, she felt numb with frustration barely able to open her journal. As time went on, through sheer grit and determination to journal more consistently, Jane soon noticed her self-esteem improve. Today, Jane continues to embrace her journaling practice as a source of strength and resilience, even if on occasion, her journaling is simply one word, one day at a time.
I wholeheartedly believe that by confronting the myths of rage, a profound truth emerges: female rage isn’t a singular force, but a spectrum of emotions. It’s born from experiences, injustices and systemic biases - a response to a world that stifles, belittles or marginalises. Breaking this silence is an act of defiance, reclaiming narratives and validating female rage. Speaking from experience this takes courage and loads of self-belief.
Which is why I had to create “Rage on a Page”. I had to be a voice and provide a platform that was safe, supportive and intimate for more women like me to channel their rage. In celebration of International Women’s Day tomorrow Friday 8th March I’m going to release my “Rage on a Page Manifesto”, it’s something I’ve been quietly working on for a while, but now I’m ready to release it and tomorrow seems the perfect day to do so.
I’m so passionate about helping women learn how to channel their emotions into something more positive and creative through the practice of therapeutic journaling. “Rage on a Page” was created as an invitation to embrace complexity, acknowledge female voices, create space for truths to be heard and stories to be told, all through the power of therapeutic journaling.
I have 2 spaces left available on my next series of “Rage on a Page”, so if this message or any of my previous posts resonate with you, please reach out. I’d love to connect with you and answer any questions you may have about the transformation power of therapeutic journaling.
Until the next time
Take care and stay safe xx
